Dr. Swamy spoke to the audience after the ceremony, outlining the features of the Pediatric Emergency services and the hospital's dedication to enhancing pediatric healthcare access.
This new emergency unit for children is adorned with lively, cartoon-themed walls intended to foster a comforting environment that eases the anxiety of young patients. A pediatrician is available 24/7, ensuring prompt medical care for children without the usual wait times seen in standard emergency departments. This initiative addresses the expressed need of parents for a specialized pediatric emergency service. The new unit is designed to deliver a comfortable and efficient experience for children and their families.
Dr. Ravi Shankar Swamy stated, "Annually, we handle thousands of pediatric and adult emergencies, and managing pediatric emergencies necessitates a tailored approach. We recognize that bringing a child to the ER can be fraught with stress due to extended wait times and uncertainty among adult patients. With our new Pediatric Emergency Unit, we aim to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere for children during emergencies, while providing parents with the confidence of swift and expert medical intervention."
A standout feature of the facility is the innovative 'box-in-box' model. By embedding pediatric emergency services within the hospital's comprehensive setup, the unit allows for immediate access to advanced diagnostic tools like CT scans and MRIs, as well as specialists in various fields including cardiology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, and more. This integrated approach eliminates the need for external referrals or transfers, positioning Manipal Hospital Whitefield as a comprehensive solution for complex pediatric emergencies.
